When we met this couple they wanted to address the lack of space in the kitchen. They wanted to explore the possibility of knocking through into there dinning area opening the room and making it more family orientated. Originally they couldn’t believe that we had come up with the idea of them having an island for cooking with a bank of tall units housing the two ovens.
In regards to colours they were not sure on what to have other then the possibility of mixing colours, this gave us the idea to keep the kitchen fairly bright by having it in a high gloss finish while making the island the main feature as you entered the room giving a strong contrast and wow factor.
When designing this layout we wanted to allow the flow of the kitchen into the living area not be restricted to one way. One person can comfortably walk into the dining area without impeding or entering the cookers space. By opening up the back room the family now spend more time in the kitchen.
